Tab McBlane

I grew up in Springfield and was born there too. I moved to St Paris when I turned 21 and lived here ever since except for 1 year the wife and I spent traveling the United States in our RV. Back in St Paris now. My best find has been my wife honestly but with the detector it is probably an 1876 Canadian Large cent. Every place I have access to has usually been hit by a thousand people so I always try to find what they skimmed over.
I just love to metal detect and prefer to find old coins as a path to history, the ole wonder who had this and how they managed to lose it question. I don't have any expertise in any areas, I am just like plundering through life LOL! I have several detectors, My main one is a Whites DFX but also have an XLT my wife uses but also have an MXT as a back up and I bought a GMT for when we go back out west in the desert.
Since I heard about Dayton Diggers on the Buckeye forum I have been working on my digging skills. Without any heavy equipment and only a shovel I suppose I could dig a hole a couple of feet deep in an hour. That depends on the consistency of the dirt and rock content. In cement I can go about a 1/16 of an inch an hour. Good Luck to the gang in Virginia and keep on digging!
